What are blizzards and how do they form?
A blizzard is a huge and dangerous winter storm with harsh winds and heavy snowfall. Blizzards can be predicted by computers depending on the time of year. The National Weather Service claims to have an accuracy of 85% with their predictions. There are wind gusts usually over 35 miles per hour and last for longer than a couple of hours. Blizzards form when warm air rises over a patch of cold air. Clouds with water inside can form over this dome due to the warm air above the dome. If the dome of cold air has a temperature of 32*F or less, the precipitation will fall down below the patch of cold air and turn into frozen precipitation.

Did you know?
In the year of 1888 during the month of March a blizzard dropped FOUR FEET of snow from New York City and to the North through New England! It KILLED at least 400 people!
But that's not the worse case there has been of blizzard death tolls. . .
The most DEADLIEST blizzard ever was the Iran Blizzard of 1972. It received almost 10 feet of snow in the northern areas. The southern areas of Iran, however, received up to 26 feet of snow! This caused entire villages to die, and a whole town even got buried because of all of the snow. At least 4,000 people died from this blizzard that occurred February 3th to February 9th in 1972.
