Blizzard warnings by weeks in November of 2003 to March 2013 (U.S.)
In the year of 2012, as reported by the National Weather Service, 28 people died due to cold weather related occurrences. In line with this, the United States Search and Rescue Team claims that 25% of people die because of ice and snow each year. Please read with respect for the lives lost.
People who live in Boston quite often know what they should do after a blizzard. Although, with a place like Georgia, not many people know things like this! You may ask yourself, "Well; what if I wanna go to my vacation home in the Rockies up in Canada? What would I do after a vicious snowstorm like the one in Boston in the year of 2003?" You're in luck, my friend! I have seven necessary actions written down right here if you're ever stuck in your vacation home after a blizzard.
Might I add; Boston got 27.6 inches of snow over the time of two days! It holds the all-time record for the amount of snow EVER in Boston!
Boston by itself spends between $5 million to $25 million for snow removal. That's almost $300,000 per inch of snow! WOW!
"Roughly speaking, these numbers suggest that between New England, New York City, and northern New Jersey, the total cost of the blizzard of 2015 could exceed $1 billion," states Evan Horowitz; staff member of The Boston Globe.

!!!WHAT TO DO AFTER A BLIZZARD!!
Pictures included!
First of all, make sure you have a way to get out of the house, even if it means grabbing that old rusty shovel out of your basement and digging right through the wall in front of your door!

Secondly, look around to see if you have any power lines that have fallen; if so, call your power company but absolutely do NOT go any closer to take a look. The snapped wires could possibly electrocute you even without direct contact.

Third; take a look at your carbon monoxide detectors and make sure they are all working and functional. This is especially important if you are using any kind of fuel in your house for things such as a fire to keep warm or to cook food.

Fourth; turn off all water supply and check to see if there are any broken pipes. The reason for this is that cold temperatures can freeze water in the pipes. Leaving your water on during a snowstorm could freeze this water and crack or snap your pipes! Believe it or not, your house could flood very easily if these things are not properly inspected. Fifthly, if your roof or any exterior walls have been damaged; staying with a neighbor that hasn't had any architectural damage done to his/her house, is your best option. Picture - John Hensler
Sixth; make absolutely sure that you do not have any broken windows. Feet of snow and ice could come toppling down in your house and suffocating you. A short-term fix for this until a repairman can come out and properly fix your windows is nailing plywood and blankets over your windows. Picture - Poshea (Dropbox - Big Snow 2010)
Finally, grab a radio and turn it on! If you have power supplied to your house, or even battery operated radios. Listen to see how the condition of everything is going to see if it is OK to leave your house and go about your normal daily business in your vacation home at the Rockies in Canada!
